A late 19th century French Butterfly Pendant/brooch. This antique butterfly brooch is beautifully set with twinkling rose-cut diamonds to the pierced wings, these with round-cut ruby to each and terminating in old round cut sapphires to the ends, the eyes are set old-cut emerald, with a line of graduated old-cut amethysts to the tail, and oval cabochon garnet in a raised rub-over setting to its main body. The mount is realistically fashioned from yellow gold and silver topped to the diamond-set wings, hinged pendant mount, French circa 1880, width 43mm, length 39mm, gross weight 14.4g.
